Digital factories are high on the top management agenda: nine out of ten industrial companies are investing in digital factories, according to our latest study “Digital Factories 2020 – Shaping the future of manufacturing”. However, only 6% of all respondents describe their factories as fully digitised.
Our research shows that digital factories offer high efficiency gains. Key to success are digital concepts and technologies like predictive maintenance, connected sensors or 3D printing. At the same time, the set-up and expansion of digital factories requires a digital workforce that can only be developed with top management commitment.
