Welcome to our two-day training on GRI Standards sustainability reporting. The training is certified by the Global Reporting Initiative and provided by PwC Finland’s experienced trainers. After completing the training, you will receive a certificate of completion issued by GRI. The training refers to the updated GRI Standards (2021), which must be used for all GRI reports published from the year 2022 and onwards.

Our certified GRI Standards training focuses on how to succeed in sustainability reporting by using GRI Standards and anticipating the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and related European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS) cogenerated by EFRAG with the help of GRI. This training will help your organisation in conducting a materiality assessment, development of sustainability disclosures in the line with globally applied sustainability standards. We will address different ways to use the report as a part of communication to different stakeholders including financial market participants regulatory needs on ESG-data. During the course we will describe how reporting can be used to foster sustainability, build trust and support value creation.

This training focuses on the sustainability reporting process, materiality assessment, understanding stakeholder expectation and measuring the results.The training is largely about developing participants’ competence and ability to run complex projects such as producing a sustainability report or develop skills and competencies to analyse ESG-data from sustainability reports. The training includes interactive exercises, sharing best practices and discussions based on participants’ prerequisites and challenges.

The training will be conducted in English/Finnish. 
Please note that this training is only organised in the classroom, and there is no possibility to complete the course remotely.

Cost: 1450 euros + VAT 24%. Price including lunch, coffee/tea and snacks during both days.

Register for the training no later than May 9, 2023. PwC reserves the right to cancel the course no later than 1 week (7 days) before the training if there are not enough people registered by the end of the deadline.

This training is certified by the GRI, which is a leading corporate sustainability reporting standard setter and the most widely used reporting framework in the world.

Objectives of the training

The goal of this training is to develop the participants’ ability to lead or be involved in the sustainability reporting process, to provide a good overall understanding of what is required for reporting in accordance with GRI Standards, and how sustainability reporting can be used to develop the organisation’s work with sustainability.

Who is the training for?

This training is aimed at those who work with corporate reporting, sustainability disclosures, data assurance and sustainability management and communications, and who want to learn more about sustainability reporting, regardless of sector or industry or prepare implementation of the forthcoming EU corporate sustainability reporting standards.

No previous knowledge on sustainability reporting is needed, but it’s good to have some understanding of how companies and organisations work with sustainability impacts, risks and opportunities.

Mikael Niskala

Mikael Niskala

Partner, Sustainability & ESG Services Leader at PwC Finland

Mikael Niskala is an independent sustainability professional specialised in sustainability accounting, assurance, and reporting. He works as Partner and ESG & Sustainability Service Leader at PwC Finland.

He has more than 25 years’ experience of GRI Standards, sustainability disclosures and reporting practice. Mikael has in-depth knowledge of global sustainability reporting frameworks and standards (GRI, SASB, TCFD) and their implementation in corporate practice.

He is a nominated trainer for the GRI Certified Training Program since 2010. Mikael is a member of EFRAG Project Task Force on European Sustainability Reporting Standard. In addition to his practical work experience with companies, Mikael has also worked for academia and contributed to sustainability reporting textbooks, articles, and lectures. Mikael has experience in the development of sustainability contents for financial reporting standards.

Registration

Changes and cancellation policy

  • The cancellation of participation without costs is possible 10 days before the training event.
  • If the cancellation is notified 9-6 days before the training event, we will charge 150 € + VAT as cancellation costs.
  • We charge 50% of the participation fee for cancellations made at least 5 business days before the training event.
  • For cancellations made after this or in case of no show, we will charge the entire participation fee. In cases of sudden illness or an obstacle, which could not be reported before the training, we will refund the participation fee against a medical certificate.

  • PwC reserves the right to cancel the course no later than 1 week (7 days) before the training if there are not enough people registered by the end of the deadline.
